This issue of the Spirit of Ananda Newsletter introduces Ananda's Meditation Retreat scheduled for April 2014 and also provides Yoga practices for complete mind-body balance.

Meditation is not just a set of techniques or rituals as it is widely perceived. Instead it is a state of being of the evolved mind and is a byproduct of yogic journey. A holistic or integrative approach of yoga is recommended to actualize this state of consciousness. The potential of an evolved mind in meditative state is attained through various techniques of Hatha Yoga such as Asana, Pranayama, Mudra, Bandha and Shatkriyas as well as time proven techniques of Raja Yoga, Mantra Yoga and Kriya Yoga.

Living Consciously Ananda Meditation Retreat Program

This retreat will be run by Ananda's Head of Yoga – Sushant Pandey from April 1st to April 14th 2014. The retreat can be booked both for 7 nights or for 14 nights.

 

Ananda’s Approach to Meditation

It is a workshop designed to provide everyday tools to assist you in dealing with your mind and its complexities. It is also an opportunity to set aside time for yourself, and discover your true nature. The Retreat will be a beautiful and rhythmic blend of asanas (Yogic Postures), pranayama (Hatha Yogic Breathing), mantras, meditation techniques sourced from tradition of Tantra, Upanishads, Raja Yoga and Kriya Yoga and a series of 8 beautiful holistic spa treatments chosen from Ayurveda, Western and Oriental spa therapies.

The Experience of the retreat will culminate into a sound and authentic understanding of the Yogic system as well as deepening of awareness; to aid one to live life consciously and mindfully.

Stages Of Meditation

Classically the whole process of meditation moves through stages of withdrawal of awareness (Pratyahara), intensification of awareness on the object of meditation (Dharana) and finally fusion of awareness with the object of meditation (Dhyana).

Pratyahara is the stage of meditation which starts the process of internalization by dissociating the mind from the senses. Techniques like Yoga Nidra (Psychic Sleep), Ajapa Japa (Spontaneous awareness of the mantra) Antar Mouna (Harmonization of the thoughts) etc help to experience natural introversion of the mind and the senses.

Dharana comes next after internalization is achieved; then the practitioners find an object to rest the awareness on and gradually experience of one-pointedness becomes easier and intense. It develops one’s memory, focused awareness or attentiveness.

Once inner focus is attained then one continues to further internalize to follow the object of meditation. Awareness eventually gets fused completely with the object (Dhyana) which heightens the experience of inner tranquility, harmony and unity within oneself.

Sugar Free Granola Bar

Amount / Measure / Ingredient
500 - Grams- Unsalted Butter
1250 - Grams - Sugar free powder
1000 - Grams - White Oats
400 - Grams - Coconut Powder
300 - Grams - Sesame Seeds
50 - Grams - Sunflower Seed

Preparation Method
1. Melt the butter with sugar in a sauce Pan.
2. Mix all other ingredients together and fold it with melted butter mixture.
3. Spread the above mixture into baking tray, bake at 160 Degree C for 15 min.
